Red Oak officials are hoping new equipment will aid in putting out major structure fires.
Red Oak's Fire Department recently added a new aerial truck to its vehicle fleet. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Monday morning, Fire Chief John Bruce says the new vehicle replaces the old ladder truck that was damaged while being repaired.
"Our original ladder truck was out for service," said Bruce, "and was damaged to the degree to where they ended up totaling it. So, the insurance company got involved, and that's what started this process to begin with. We were able to secure a Pierce aerial--a 110-foot aerial--with a bucket. That purchase did go through. We now have that piece of equipment here. It is in service--just waiting on some adapters, some miscellaneous hand tools to be mounted to it. It's ready to go at a moment's notice." Bruce says the truck's vertical access is a tremendous addition to the city's fleet.
