Des Moines police had to catch three children who were tossed out of the third floor of an apartment building during an early morning fire Tuesday. Firefighters were called to a complex at 3720 MLK Jr. Parkway at 3:15 a.m. for reports of an apartment on fire. They arrived to find Des Moines officers had already caught the children, who were tossed from an apartment window on the top floor. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to two apartments on the third floor and got everyone out safely. Polk County Emergency Management is helping residents until they're allowed back into their homes. Firefighters are investigating what sparked the fire.
