Le Mars Fire and Rescue Chief David Schipper was recently named president of the Iowa Fire Chiefs Association. It was during the association's annual conference on Saturday, Nov. 9, in Sigourney, that Schipper received the appointment. "It was a proud moment," he said of the honor. "I've been fire chief now for almost 11 years and have been a member of that fire group for longer than that. I look forward to representing all the fire chiefs in Iowa and the chief officers and getting done what we can for them." Schipper, was joined at the conference by his wife, Alissa, parents, Wayne and Marleen Schipper, and Assistant Chief Mike Wise and his wife, Diane. Wayne also served in the president capacity during his time as chief. A member of the board since 2014, Schipper served as its vice-president from 2017-2019.
