Fire In Downtown Fort Dodge

The Fort Dodge Fire Dept. responded to a structure fire Thursday in downtown Fort Dodge. Fire personnel arrived at 1103 Central Ave. just before 10 AM. The building was ruled a total loss and was vacant at the time of the fire. The building at 1101 Central Ave (just west of the original building) is partially residential and it suffered fire and smoke damage. no civilian injuries were reported but one firefighter was injured here’s Fort Dodge Fire Chief Steve Hergenreter on the extent of that injury. The firefighter was injured and released. The chief went on to talk about the the way fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze. Fort Dodge Fire Dept. was on scene for over 2 hours. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Anyone with info is asked to call Webster County Crime Stoppers at 515-573-1444
