One person was found dead inside a Spencer, Iowa, residence Thursday morning.
Spencer Fire-Rescue says firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 528 East 1st Street at about 8 a.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported fire showing in the front and rear of the residence.
Firefighters say they located one victim in the residence. The victim was confirmed deceased when firefighters found them.
The name of the victim has not been released, pending an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner and family notifications.
Spencer Fire-Rescue says the house suffered heavy fire damage throughout, except for one room where the door was closed.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Authorities say 22 firefighters were on scene for over seven hours.
