Firefighters battled an early morning house fire on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids on Sunday.
At around 12:21 a.m., the Cedar Rapids Fire Department and other emergency responders were sent to a report of a fire in the 7000 block of Brookhaven Drive NW. The initial report indicated that one person may have been inside the home, but it was later determined that everyone got out before firefighters got to the scene.
Firefighters used hoses to knock down the fire in the garage and through other parts of the house. It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
Three people were at home at the time and escaped the home uninjured. The occupants have been displaced by the fire. A dog was still inside the house but was rescued through a basement window by firefighters.
Fire damage, along with smoke and water damage, was found throughout the home.
