Two homes, garage damaged in Sioux City fire

July 4th, the Sioux City Fire Department responded to a call of a house on fire in the 3700 block of Floyd Blvd. When the Sioux City Fire Department arrived, firefighters saw flames spreading through a detached garage and into parts of the nearby home. Floyd Blvd. was blocked off in the area from Madison Street to Harrison Street. Authorities from Sioux City Fire Rescue confirmed the fire began near the detached garage in the rear portion of the home. The fire was put out quickly, but one nearby house also was damaged. Two pets were inside when the flames started, but they were rescued without injuries. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire. Its cause is under investigation at this time. Sioux City Police were also on scene assisting and closing down nearby streets.
