Investigators at the scene of an overnight house fire in Council Bluffs confirmed one firefighter is recovering from injuries they sustained while containing the flames. Crews from both Council Bluffs and Lewis Township fire departments worked to extinguish the fire. Investigators said the injured firefighter should be OK. Officials said an off-duty firefighter spotted smoke coming from the house near State Orchard Road and Cedar Lane just before 11 p.m. Saturday. A battalion chief on scene said investigators are still investigating the cause, and whether or not anyone was inside the house when the fire started.
