A Carroll home will likely be deemed a total loss following a structure fire late this (Tuesday) morning. The Carroll Fire Department was dispatched to 739 Troy Dr. at approximately 11:16 a.m. after a neighbor reported smoke escaping from the roof. According to Chief, Greg Schreck, the fire had spread throughout most of the home by the time they arrived. He says it took about 20 minutes to knock down the flames enough for firefighters to enter the structure. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, but several pets were lost in the fire. Crews were on-scene until approximately 2:50 p.m. to monitor for hot spots or flareups. An investigation into the fire is ongoing, but Schreck believes it originated in the kitchen, spread into a nearby bedroom and then into the second story and attic. The Carroll Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
