Dubuque health officials reported Thursday that the county saw the largest single-day increase in positive COVID-19 cases so far.
134 patients tested positive for the virus, reflecting a 33% (32.7) positivity rate over the latest 24-hour recording period, a number close to double the % of positive cases over the past two weeks (16.5%).
"We've been having this increase in amount of cases for over a week now," Mary Rose Corrigan, a public health specialist for the City of Dubuque and member of the Dubuque County Public Health Incident Management Team.
The surge in County cases coming just-over two weeks after a proposed County-wide mask mandate failed to pass.
On Wednesday night the Dubuque County Board of Health agreed to begin releasing COVID-19 data by ZIP code.
