Merrill Fire and EMS have found a way to reinvent their annual Fall Picnic on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Due to COVID-19, Fire Chief Jacob Conley said his department had to look at how they could continue to host their yearly fundraiser, while keeping everyone safe.
“We are used to having everybody come in and sit down and chat and then offer an educational demonstration of our services provided before concluding the event with our sit down meal,” he shared. “However, this year in our hope to limit contact we have instead decided to offer the picnic as either a drive thru option or a carry out option.”
The fire station will be open where cars can pull right into it to pick up their order, Conley explained.
This year’s event will be held from 6-7 p.m. at 500 Roosevelt St., Merrill. The meal will feature a pulled pork sandwich, sides of homemade coleslaw and potato salad, and a variety of desserts.
“These are perfect for taking out to the fields for harvest,” Conley said.
