VIDEO: The pandemic set many of us back by putting a pause on the routines that we’re used to. The Fairfield fire department is one of several groups that put a pause on things, like their training. Training officer, Jason Crandall, says the pandemic made things difficult but now they’re getting back into the swing of things. “It made it more difficult for us to get together and do training but we’re doing it safely and we just had to overcome those hurdles to keep our training up.” Overcoming those hurdles is exactly what they’re doing by diving right in. This weekend the fire service training bureau will provide a mobile fire simulator so volunteers can practice putting out a fire without the stress of saving people or the property. Crandall says the fire chief opened this event to any volunteer firefighter in the surrounding area.
