In a yearly tradition the Mountain Home Fire Department is now collecting letters to give to Santa and will be out and about helping Santa deliver his replies around town later this month. Some of the children’s letters will even be published in the Dec. 12 issue of the paper. On the nights of Dec. 13 and 20 Santa’s special helpers will be out delivering letters to children in their shiny red fire truck. Letters must be in Santa’s mailbox in front of the Mountain Home News by Dec. 19, at five p.m. Make sure to include a name and address in clear handwriting so Santa’s helpers know just where to go. A friendly reminder the red mailbox in front of the MHN office only accepts letters meant for the North Pole, for all of your other mailing needs go to the U.S. Post Office located at 350 North Third East.
