Members of Pocatello Firefighters Local 187 gave 300 new coats Wednesday to local children whose families are in financial need.
The union members started their giveaways at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Early Childhood Center in Pocatello, where children in Head Start classes were fitted for coats.
Jason Whitcomb, a driver and operator who oversees the program, said the union participates in Firefighters for Operation Warm. It’s operated under the umbrella of the national nonprofit organization Operation Warm, which partners with various organizations interested in philanthropy to raise funds to buy coats for children in need.
