Firefighters had no sooner ended some nighttime fire training when they responded to the real thing. A Monday night attic fire in the 900 block of East Bridger Street provided the Pocatello Fire Department with a real test shortly after firefighters had held a nighttime exercise in which they performed search and rescue operations during a mock structure fire. No one was home at the one-story duplex on East Bridger Street where the attic fire ignited around 10:30 p.m., so firefighters didn't have to worry about trapped fire victims. But firefighters still had to extinguish the blaze and then determine its cause. By 11 p.m. the fire was out but firefighters were still trying to figure out what ignited the flames. The fire did not result in any injuries and was reported by a local resident who saw the smoke coming from the duplex's attic.
