Crews were continuing to demolish a three-story home that burned up in October when the house shifted and hit a gas line, causing a leak Thursday morning. The Lewiston Fire Department says this all started some time around 10:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of 6th Avenue. A fire engine with three firefighters, multiple Avista Utilities trucks and Lewiston Police vehicles responded all responded to the incident. Cpt. Chris Jacks with Lewiston Fire says they contained the leak well and turned the gas off by 11:30 a.m. "Now it's going to be pretty safe because they've capped that line so they have no gas going anywhere near that so it'll be very safe to remove the structure now,” Jacks says.
