Two local businesses were evacuated in separate, unrelated incidents Monday afternoon. The first incident involved the report of a fire in a commercial building on the city’s north side. Employees at Care Creek Dental, located at 1169 Call Creek Drive, reported a fire in one of the exam rooms around 12:55 p.m. Located approximately one city block from Pocatello Fire Department station No. 2, the responding fire crew arrived to the business within minutes of fielding the report. Pocatello Fire Department Battalion Chief Shane Grow said an overhead dental light malfunctioned and caught fire. Upon arrival, the fire crew switched off power to the light and extinguished the small flames. Employees had first tried to handle the flame with a fire extinguisher before contacting the fire department, Grow said.
