A Nampa councilman was honored at Monday night's meeting for his help at a fire that burned a portion of Ashley Manor Memory Care center on May 10. Councilman Rick Hogaboam was formally recognized by Nampa Fire Chief Kirk Carpenter at the start of Nampa City Council's regular meeting May 20. Carpenter said he plans to present Hogaboam a certificate of appreciation and several other awards at a later date. "I'm humbled and embarrassed by the recognition," Hogaboam said. Hogaboam said he stopped at the center while driving home from work when he saw smoke rising into the sky. When he arrived at the building, he noticed it was an assisted living center and was worried when he didn't see any of the residents outside of the building.
