A couple was rescued from the water after Selkirk Fire was alerted to people in the water near the Long Bridge about 10:17 p.m. Friday, according to fire department officials. Upon their arrival about 10:30 p.m., firefighters were able to locate a male and female in the water about one-fourth mile from shore. Selkirk Fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that a firefighter was lowered into the water with a dry suit using a ladder truck while its fire boat responded from City Beach. Both victims were transported to shore via the fire boat. No further information was available on how the couple ended up in the water. In dispatch records, the incident was reported as non-injury accident. In addition to Selkirk Fire engines and the fire boat, Bonner County Sheriff’s deputies and Bonner County EMS responded.
