Fire Department Responds to Fire in Lewiston Orchards

At 7:01 P.M. on Wednesday evening, the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatch to a reported structure fire at 1825 Birch Court in the Lewiston orchards. First arriving crews found light smoke coming from a bed room at the corner of two story split entry home. The crews entered the home and found that a bedroom on the second floor had a mattress fire. The mattress was just smoldering at that time. Crews removed the mattress to the outside. Smoke was removed with positive pressure ventilation. Crews remained on scene for 50 minutes to check for extension and overhauled the fire room. The fire is still under investigation at this time. The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $15,000. Nobody was injured.
