PHOTO: The Kootenai County Fire Prevention Cooperative received a donation of nearly 200 smoke detectors from the Idaho Section: American Nuclear Society. They were delivered by Bob Borrelli, professor of nuclear engineering at the University of Idaho-Idaho Falls. This is the second year of donations to area fire departments in North Idaho. Last year, Shoshone County Co-op and Coeur d’Alene Fire each received 90 smoke detectors. The Kootenai County Fire Prevention Co-op is a division of the Kootenai County Fire Chiefs Association and is made up of fire prevention personnel from each fire department in Kootenai County. All members of the Co-op will have access to this donation for their smoke detector installation programs. These installation programs are typically based on financial need, but our overall goal is to ensure that all homes are protected by smoke detectors and alarms.
