PHOTOS: A Boise man is getting his dog, Georgia, ready to save lives. Israel Shirk spends six hours a day training his belgian malinois to be a search and rescue tracking dog. “The goal is that when someone who is going to be very difficult to locate goes missing, that whatever the involved search authority is, would be able to call us and come out," said Shirk. "Whether that's here, or down in the Wasatch where it’s a really common, or in Central Idaho where it happens every several years." Shirk says he is a former member of Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue, a certified wilderness first responder and a ultra marathon runner. He is currently taking time off to get Georgia ready for anything that may come her way. He says they've been together for a little over a year and that he is working on getting her certified.
