A 49-year-old Pocatello man is facing a third-degree felony arson charge in Bannock County. David K. Hoskins allegedly started a fire on private land in the area of North Arthur and Crockett on Sunday night, according to Pocatello police. The fire burned a 500- by 40-foot section of grass, but did not cause any other damage. Hoskins told police that roughly 30 people had tried to attack him near Sacagawea Park. He also indicated that he had been yelling for help for an hour before he decided to light the grass on fire in an effort to get police officers’ attention, authorities said. Witnesses reported that they didn’t see any other people in the area, police said.
