VIDEO: A Sunday night fire has displaced a Buhl family and claimed the lives of three of their pets. Buhl Fire Chief Andrew Stevens said the fire originated from an outlet in the living room of the home located on the 900 block of Poplar Street. The fire went up the wall into the attic. The home sustained significant damage to the living room, upstairs bedroom and attic.
Stevens said the home is unlivable. The homeowners were not at home at the time of the fire and crews were called in by a passerby at about 7 p.m.
When fire crews arrived, they were able find one of the family’s dogs and reunite it with the family.
“Every time something like this happens, we remind people to have working smoke detectors,” Stevens said. “I didn’t hear any smoke detectors going off."
