He served the community for more than 35 years, leading the way in health and safety. Now, while he leaves some big boots to fill, his successor has already hit the ground running.
Dr. Jay Hunter served as the Medical Program Director (MPD) for the Lewiston Fire Department (LFD) for more than 35 years.
During his time as the MPD, Dr. Hunter was instrumental in bringing new and innovative medical equipment and treatment protocols to the department, which has greatly improved the overall level of care provided to citizens. He was involved with the very first *defibrillator used in the City of Lewiston, and helped to see that paramedic level care continues to be provided to those citizens the department responds to.
Dr. Hunter not only served as the MPD for the department, but he also served as the Director for numerous paramedic training programs in the Lewis-Clark Valley.
