With extended dry weather conditions, officials say fine fuels and timber at high elevations are increasingly dry. As a result, the entire Sawtooth National Forest is under High Fire Danger.
There is also Red Flag Warning in place until 9 p.m. Wednesday in certain areas of Twin Falls and Cassia counties.
The hot and dry conditions could allow a fire to move through vegetation very fast.
However, there aren’t any current fire restrictions on forest lands. “As we get further in, if things don’t change again, we could then put in fire restrictions into effect in hopes that that would help,” said Public Affairs Director with the Sawtooth National Forest Julie Thomas.
Thomas reminds those recreating to put their fires out completely as the summer months move in.
