Kamiah Ambulance Damaged After Being Struck by Hit-and-Run Suspect While Transporting Patient to Coeur D'Alene

On Thursday June 16, 2022 Kamiah Fire-Rescue was requested by an area hospital for a Paramedic-level transfer of a patient to Kootenai Hospital in Coeur d'Alene. While the patient was being transported, at around 12:51 a.m. on June 17, the driver of a different vehicle ran a stop sign and a flashing red street light at the intersection of US95/Walnut and Lincoln Way and struck the front of the Kamiah Fire-Rescue Ambulance (Medic 22). The accident caused moderate damage to the front of the ambulance. The driver and vehicle that struck the ambulance then fled the scene without making any personal contact with KFR personnel. At the time of this writing, Coeur d'Alene Police Department are still attempting to locate the driver and that vehicle. According to a report from KFR, the vehicle appeared to look like a Subaru, bluish in color. The vehicle will likely have a considerable damage on the vehicle's passenger side and will be missing the passenger side mirror.
