On Sunday, five members from Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 raised money by completing the 2023 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle.
Jonathan Sells, Chris Jones, Soren Lowe, Michael Henrie and Ross Freeden all climbed the 69 floors (1356 steps) of the Columbia Center in honor of local 1773 member David Chenault. Chenault is currently fighting Amyloidosis, a disease similar to the blood cancer multiple myeloma, that he acquired due to his multiple years of exposure to carcinogens as a firefighter for the City of Lewiston.
Each of the five team members climbed in full firefighting gear to reach the top of the second tallest building West of the Mississippi. Soren Lowe finished in 104th position overall with a time of 16:03.3.
The Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 team raised nearly $5,000.
