Fire at Vinyard Apartments in Lewiston Causes $50,000 in Damage, Displaces Residents

On Thursday morning, September 26th, at 11:01 a.m., the Lewiston Fire Department responded to a report of smoke at the Vinyard Apartments located at 2525 8th St. Upon arrival, responders observed smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor of the multistory building, with light smoke also visible on the third floor. Firefighters quickly identified that the fire originated in an apartment directly below the one where the smoke was first seen. Fire crews tackled the fire from both the first and second floors of the building. The third floor was also checked, and the fire was found in the wall between the first and third floors. The fire department deployed three engines, one ladder truck, two ambulances, three investigators, and three chief officers. Assistance was also provided by Asotin County Fire, Clarkston Fire, and the Wheatland Fire Protection District.
