The Bloomington Fire Department is celebrating 150 years of service and as a token of their good deeds construction has began on a new commemorative sculpture in miller park. Firefighters say this two part statue is represents both active fireman and the ones who were lost in service. The memorial will act as the centerpiece for the park and it will be commissioned by Andrew Jumonville of Bloomington. "It has just this hometown feel to it," said Bloomington Fire Chief, Brian Mohr. "There are a lot of sculptures that you can buy out there but it has just been special working with a local artist. He's extremely talented and I think its more meaningful that you can work on it from the ground up rather than just receive it." The sculpture will be completed in October. the Bloomington Fire Department is inviting you and the family to attend the dedication ceremony on October 13th.
