Starting Monday, the fire department will have firefighters on duty around the clock. It's the first department in the county with 24/7 coverage since Decatur's fire department more than a century ago. The decision was made because of the town's increased population. Additionally, the fire chief is retiring. The station is using his salary to pay for three full-time positions. There will also be three part-time firefighters plus volunteers.
