Two people were taken to the hospital after a fiery rollover crash Monday morning, fire officials said.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office warned drivers in a Nixle alert sent about 8:20 a.m. to avoid Coral Road at Maple Street. The intersection is east of Route 23 and south of Marengo.
The crash involved a semitrailer and a Jeep, Marengo Fire Protection District Assistant Fire Chief John Kimmel said.
The semi, which had been traveling east on Coral Road, hit the Jeep, traveling north on Maple Street after disobeying a stop sign, and both vehicles rolled after the impact, McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Creighton said.
The semi caught fire and set a nearby utility pole aflame as well, Kimmel said.
Power was cut in the area as the fire was extinguished.
