An early morning fire claims the life of a Rockford man. It happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of North Court Street, not far from North Church Street and North Main Street. Rockford Fire Department officials say that crews discovered smoke coming from the home upon arrival, and that they discovered a 27 year old man inside, on the second floor. Despite efforts from first responders and hospital to revive the victim, he later died at Rockford Memorial Hospital. A firefighter was also injured, but is expected to be okay. The estimated loss is around $10,000 dollars, and the fire is still under investigation. The victim's name has not yet been released.
