A South Peoria house fire late Friday resulted in one person transported to a hospital, according to authorities.
The blaze began about 11 p.m. at 2218 W. Lincoln Ave.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames emanating from the rear of the one-story house, a news release stated. It took them about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.
In the basement, crews found a large dog standing over the victim. That person was evacuated and tended to by paramedics in the front yard.
The victim's condition was not known publicly.
The dog was rescued and turned over to a relative of the victim, the release stated.
