Federal and state officials toured Galesburg and Knox County homes for storm damage Wednesday. Galesburg Fire Chief/Knox County Emergency Management Agency coordinator Tom Simkins said officials from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency were both in the area for the visit. “We went to 32 different (residential) properties in the county and talked to a lot of different people, so it was about getting information,” Simkins said. “We had about half of those in Galesburg and the other half in the county.” He also estimated that 95% of the homes had water damage with basement issues, such as basement flooding.
