Barely 12 hours after responding to a house fire Monday night, the Decatur Fire Department found itself battling a second blaze Tuesday morning.
Firefighters arrived on scene about 6 a.m. Tuesday to battle a blaze in the 800 block of West Decatur Street, according to Fire Chief Jeff Abbott. When firefighters arrived the east side of the house was entirely engulfed from the front of the home to the back of the home, and it was spreading through the walls, he said.
"It was defensive when we got here, which means we couldn't go in because there was too much fire," he said. Abbot said that from what he understood an occupant on the second floor heard an argument on the front porch. He went downstairs to see what was going on, went back upstairs and smelled smoke.
