The Dalzell village board took a moment to honor a former trustee and firefighter at Wednesday night’s meeting. Mayor Gloria Orlandi presented David and Vonda Bernabei with a memorial plaque to commemorate their son David Louis Bernabei who passed away in November 2013 after battling cancer. Orlandi said the plaque was a long time in the making and will be placed on a memorial rock. The plaque commemorates Bernabei’s service to the Dalzell fire protection district, which he was president of, and the Dalzell village board. “David always took his position very seriously and did it very well,” Orlandi said.
