Led by an Oglesby fire vehicle displaying his jacket and helmet, a convoy of nearly 90 emergency vehicles honored Evan Knobloch Friday night.
First responders from all across the region rolled through Oglesby, LaSalle and Peru Friday night in honor of the 20-year-old Oglesby firefighter and St. Bede graduate who passed away on Wednesday.
The destination was “Evan’s Friday Night,” an event at St. Bede in his honor featuring a benefit flag-football game. After his death, Evan’s family asked that the evening continue as scheduled
Knobloch fought bravely against Ewing Sarcoma, an extremely rare cancer of the bones and soft tissue. And the communities in the Illinois Valley showed their support for him and his family during his fight by buying and displaying red lights at their homes.
