A Round Lake Park man who died in a fire last week was identified Tuesday as Gregory Gauvain by the Lake County Coroner. Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said in a statement that an autopsy performed on Friday showed Gauvain died from “fire related injuries.” “The investigation into his death is ongoing by our office and the Round Lake Park Police Department,” Cooper said, adding that routine toxicology results were also pending. “We have been in close contact with Mr. Gauvain’s family and our deepest condolences go out to them during this difficult time,” he said. The fire occurred late Thursday night in the Saddlebrook Farms subdivision north of Peterson Road at Route 60. Neighbor Wally Smock, 73, said he was taking his dog Buster out for a walk when he saw Gauvain’s wife in her front yard, and she said her husband was still inside the smoke-filled home.
