Three people were displaced from their home Thursday after a fire tore through a West Town apartment building.
Firefighters were called about 5:15 p.m. for smoke coming from a reach porch of a three-story building at 825 N. Elston St., according to Chicago Fire Dept. District Chief Juan Hernandez.
A fire started near the rear portion of rooftop, where roofers were working nearby, Hernandez said. The fire made its way into a single unit of the building.
The fire was put out by 5:45 p.m., Hernandez said. The cause of the fire was still unknown.
Two adults and a child were displaced from the building.
