Arson: Portable Toilet Set on Fire in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:23 AM Friday September 20, 2019 to a report of a fire involving a portable toilet at Hasbrook Park, 333 West Maude Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that an unknown offender or offenders committed arson by igniting a plastic porta john and caused it to become engulfed in flames. No persons were hurt as a result of the fire. Along with the destruction of the portable toilet, a wood enclosure was destroyed, and a small tree was damaged. The cost to repair the damage to the property was unknown at the time of the police report. Fires involving portable toilets have been a recurring problem at a higher rate for about 6 months.
