Officials are investigating a fire that caused $15,000 in damages in Belvidere.
The Belvidere Fire Department was called to the 1100 block of S. State Street for a report of smoke showing at 2:40 p.m. When they arrived, they saw a two-story residential home with smoke showing from the second floor.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 5 minutes and a search of the building revealed no one was home. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Belvidere Fire Department was assisted by Boone County Fire Districts 1, 2 and 3, Cherry Valley Fire Department, Marengo Fire Department, Lifeline Ambulance, Capron Rescue and Boone County EMA.
