One dead in Mead County residential fire

One person died early Tuesday morning in a house fire in Bran­denburg. Rebecca Parks, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Meade County Coroner’s Office, according to a Kentucky State Police news release. KSP Post 4 in Eliza­bethtown responded to the fire at 4:32 a.m. after receiving a call from Meade County Dispatch requesting assistance in the 300 block of Gaines Farm Road. Parks was unable to escape the home, police said. Her husband, Eu­gene Parks, 67, escaped with minor injuries, according to the release. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Authorities said no foul play is suspected. An autopsy will be conducted at the Ken­tucky Medical Exami­ner’s Office in Louisville to determine cause of death.
