The Worthington Fire Department has been serving the community for 75 years! On Sunday afternoon, they hosted a celebration and open house. The department was created in 1943 by five farmers who were worried fire could destroy their farms.
The celebration included events such as fire station tours and an extrication demonstration, where firefighters demonstrated how to rescue a civilian from a mangled vehicle. There were also information booths, activities for children and a food truck. Fire chief Kevin Groody spoke at the event, and other guests were recognized as well.
