The Glasgow Fire Department responded to two fire reports Monday morning, finding the first one already extinguished upon arrival but finding a “small fire” in a patient room at Diversicare on the other. GFD responded to the nursing facility at 300 Westwood St. at 5:19 a.m. after a fire alarm was initiated. As firefighters were en route, Diversicare staff reported a strong smell of smoke in a patient room and evacuated the patient. Upon arrival, GFD found a wall heater electrical cord with a short circuit in the wall outlet; the fire was contained to the area immediately surrounding the outlet, all according to a GFD press release. No injuries were reported on the scene. Building maintenance was present to make electrical repairs prior to the departure of the GFD, which was on scene approximately 30 minutes, according to the press release.
