Around 1,000 pairs of shoes hit the pavement and hearts were pumping in remembrance of nearly 3,000 lives lost 17 years ago. Several participating in the Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run-Madisonville Saturday night were local first responders, veterans and students. More than $100,000 has been donated to first responding agencies in Hopkins County through local event sponsor, the Patrick Rudd Project, race director Kelly Forbes said. Bill Rudd, father of Sgt. Patrick Rudd, who died in 2008 after he was struck by enemy fire on combat patrol in Mosul, Iraq, believes the 6th Annual 9/11 Heroes Run was one of the largest since its inception.
