Robards Volunteer Fire Department members were seen rescuing a gold and white kitten stuck out on a limb 60-feet off the ground this evening. Firefighters responded to the 6 p.m. request to the cat in distress call along the 14,000 block of U.S. 41-S. The family indicated the feline climbed up the tree around 10 a.m. and never made its way down. Robards Assistant Fire Chief Lance Wayne said at first, members joked about “firemen going to get a cat out of a tree,” until they arrived at the scene to find it really was stuck between two branches. The chief explained the cat had worn himself out fighting all day long to free itself from the predicament. A ladder truck was used to bring the stranded critter to safety.
