Four vehicles and a carport were destroyed in a Wednesday night fire in Elizabethtown. The Elizabethtown Fire Department was dispatched at 8:14 p.m. to a vehicle fire in a carport at 110 E. Crutcher St., according to a text messaged news release from EPD Deputy Chief Everett Roberts. Upon arrival of the first fire unit at 8:18 p.m., the fire had spread to the carport and the four vehicles under the structure. The fire was upgraded to a structure fire and 18 Elizabethtown firefighters responded with seven units, in addition to three Elizabethtown Police Department units and one Hardin County ambulance. The fire was under control at 9:33 p.m., the release said. An Elizabethtown public works backhoe was used to assist with the clearing of debris to allow the fire to be extinguished
