The home that suffered a fire in Powderly this morning is a total loss, said Greenville Deputy Fire Chief Phillip Groves.
Greenville Fire Department was dispatched at 7:09 a.m. to 313 Pendley Street to find the structure fully engulfed. Firefighters left the scene at 10 a.m.
The resident, whose identity is being withheld, made it safely outside and was not injured. A firefighter made it inside the home and retrieved the resident's cat, which Groves believes will recover.
GFD was assisted by the Central City Fire Department and the Wendell Ford Training Center Fire Brigade.
