The Madisonville Police Department is investigating a fire at 361 Graves St. that destroyed a house Thursday afternoon. Madisonville Fire Department Chief John Dunning said he asked the police to help with the investigation because the house is unoccupied. The fire started in a front room and Dunning said he believes the house is a total loss. Neighbors on either side of the property said the house was a rental property and that the occupant, a woman in her 40s, had moved out in the past few days. The neighbors, Louise Leavell and Billy Qualls, said the woman had been evicted by the owner. Dunning said no firefighters were injured in fighting the blaze, which was called in shortly after 2 p.m.
